SWI

What does SWI stand for? Well, it's the Seminary Wives Institute! Which I am currently enrolled in and am super excited about it!

Here's a little info about the program from Southern's website:

"At Southern Seminary, we recognize the need for God-called ministers’ wives to be prepared for ministry. We believe that a minister’s wife needs to be educated and equipped as she and her husband prepare for service in the churches and beyond.

The time a student wife is in the seminary setting with her husband is the perfect time to undertake this training. She has opportunity to network with other wives who are preparing for the place God has for them. She will benefit from her study with faculty wives who can share from their rich experience.

The courses in the Seminary Wives Institute (SWI) are designed to give ministers’ wives biblically based and practically applied teaching. They are taught by our own seminary faculty as well as faculty wives and guest speakers.

We are committed to make this institute a vital part of the seminary wife’s experience at Southern Seminary."

I am taking a class called Essentials 1 & 2 this semester. It's one night a week from 7:00-8:45 which works great with our schedules. I am excited about the other seminary wives I will get to meet and interact with and I am excited about learning from some very godly teachers.

This is the book that we will be reading for my class:

I have heard great things about the classes offered through SWI and I am looking forward to being about of this program!

To paint or not to paint.....

This is the question I began to ask myself on Friday. I have been wanting to paint an accent wall in our living room since we moved into our apartment, but wasn't sure what color do it. I was nervous I would pick a color that I wouldn't like. There is a paint store that I drive past on my way home from work so I dropped by to look at colors and found one that I really liked! I decided to buy it and I am thrilled with the way it came out! I really love it and Ethan loves it too! I think that it works well with the space and it makes the room look complete!

Up and ready to paint this morning!
Almost done!
New frame for our engagement picture. The other frame broke during the move and we finally got a new one and put the picture up this evening!
Finished product!

This weeks happenings...

I am very excited that tomorrow is Friday! Tomorrow is orientation at Southern. I will be working, but I will be able to take an extended lunch so I can go and be apart of the family luncheon with Ethan!

It's been a great week and I have received some goodies from home that I thought I would share with you!

Coupons! I have NO idea what I am doing. I figured I would just dive it and hopefully I won't sink. I got a few Sunday papers and a binder. I cut out all my coupons and have separated them and that is about as far as I have gotten. I know of a few good blogs and I am hoping to sit down this weekend and read over them. I really wish I have someone who could sit down with me, show me how to find the deals and then go shopping with me, but that would be way to simple :) I think I can figure it out but I know it will take time. Ps. Do any of you know of a good way to organize my binder and what I can find the supplies to do it with?
It doesn't look like much, but it is a start!

Today I received a package from my sister Apryl! Look what she sent me!
I love this picture of me with my sisters! This was taken on Easter!

On Wednesday I received a package from the Rollins clan!
I love the updated picture of my nephew James, The picture he drew for Ethan and I, and dish rags!

Our apartment complex hosts a food bank for the people in our community once a month. The receptionist in the office told us that whatever food doesn't get taken gets thrown away and that we should come and try it out. So this past tuesday I headed down to the commons room by the apartment front office and waited my turn. There is a sign up that happens prior to, so I waited for my number to be called. It was very well organized and I came home with some extra food!
Ethan and I weren't going to go since we have been blessed and are able to buy our own groceries, but after finding out that it gets thrown away if people don't take it we would participate in it. I am really glad we did. I am hoping to volunteer at it next go round.

I hope that everyone has a great Friday and I great weekend! Ta-ta for now!

Friday night project

My mom gave Ethan and I a "Wall quote" about two and a half years ago while we were engaged. I never put it on the wall at our last apartment because of the way our bedroom was set up. So now that we are settled into our new apartment and have things the way we want them I decided to go ahead and hang up our wall quote. It was actually much easier than I thought it would be. Ethan helped me get it started and read the instructions to me a few times because I didn't want to do something wrong :)

Anyways, I am really happy with the way it turned out. It is a little flawed, but I think for my first time doing anything like this is turned out well. Ethan even mentioned that we should try and find a wall quote for our dinning room!
