The Ohio River-September 21st 2008

Ethan and I were both blessed with jobs soon after our move to Boyce. Working at Chick-Fil-A has given us both a different perspective on fast food.Chick-Fil-A truly does live up to their standards. On this past Sunday Bruce, the owner of both locations that we work at, took all of the employees on a desert cruise on the Ohio river! I work with Jarrod, one of the guys on Aletheia, so we all went together. We were aloud to bring a quest, so we invited our friends Kristen, Byron, and Jenny! We had so much fun and the weather was beautiful! Here are some pictures from the night!

Power Outage

Things have been crazy up here. We had a really bad wind storm on Sunday resulting in a huge power outage affecting the whole city. Over 3oo,000 people were out of power, and the city has been working really hard to get things back up and running. It was not fun going without power, and hot work for the last few days. We got power back today, and I was so excited about doing my hair :) The campus did a great job at taking care of everyone, and making sure that everyone was safe. It was decided that there would be no classes for the week. They weren't sure when the power would come back on, and they didn't want people to be living day by day. Ethan and I, long with one of our friends, almost came home today, but we couldn't get off work :( I'm not going to lie, we were both pretty upset, but decided to make the best of this week off of school by getting ahead in our schoolwork! Most students have gone home, but most of our friends are still here! There was a lot of damage to homes, cars, power lines, and sadly there were 2 deaths, but other than that we are so thankful for God's protection over our lives and the city. 

Ethan and I miss everyone very much and hope that everyone if doing great!!

Aletheia!

Last Friday night Aletheia had it's biggest event of the year. Southern Seminary hosts a Fall Festival every year, and Aletheia does a live concert. We were all hoping for a nice evening, but the weather had something else in mind. When I woke up on Friday morning it was raining outside, and it stayed that way all afternoon. Our plan was to meet at 1pm to have sound check, and to run through all of our song, but because of the rain we were unable to do so. We didn't get to set up until around 5pm, and the event started at 6pm. We were supposed to start singing at 7pm. It was quite crazy as we tried to set up everything in the rain. It was a mess. We still sang despite the rain, but I'm not going to lie to you, it didn't go as well as we all wish it would have. A few different things went wrong, and it all goes back to not being able to practice that day. Although we didn't feel as successful as we would have hoped, I believe that the Lord was able to use our songs. I had someone tell me that we really ministered to her, and that she enjoyed it more than any other time Aletheia has song! I am so thankful that even through our weakness, Christ can use us to bring glory to His awesome name!! It will also always be a fun story to tell!

My Sisters....My Friends...

As I opened my mail box and saw a letter from my sweet sister... I began to get excited! I opened it and began to read the words that were written in black ink. At first I read it out load, but with each word it became harder to say. I finished the letter, and got into Ethan's car where he began to ask me why I was crying. I simply handed him the piece of paper that contained words that my sister had written to me. It was not a long letter, just a few sentences, but her love filled each word with encouragement. Ethan smiled and handed it back to me. I am blessed beyond measure to have such a wonderful sister, who has become one of my best friends. I miss her dearly, and love her more than she knows.

Along with this letter I have received some sweet things from all of my sisters! Apryl sent me a beautiful shirt along with a letter, and Abby wrote me a letter that was so cute that it brought a hige smile upon my face! My Family is my world! They drive me to be all that God has created me to be, and I miss them terribly.
